Veal Johnson has over 28 years experience in Manufacturing. The past 11 years has been spent working with the ERP product Symix/Syteline/MAPICS/Inforâ and the Progressâ 4th generation programming language. Veal is currently a Senior Consultant with Godlan Inc. in Warren, Mi. responsible for systems support of Syteline 6.0, Syteline7.0, and Syteline 8.0 installations. Prior to joining Godlan Veal was the Systems Manager for NOV Brandt in Conroe, TX responsible for all Symix systems development and training. Prior to joining NOV Brandt, Veal was the Syteline Systems Administrator for Unidynamics, Inc. in Conroe, TX. responsible for all database administration plus custom development in Syteline and other Progress applications.
Prior to joining Unidynamics, Mr. Johnson joined Horst J. Paul and Associates in 1994. During this time he consulted and
provided working solutions to everyday business problems for over 63 companies
across several industries. He has worked
in all the modules of Syteline specializing in the manufacturing and MRP
areas.
Prior to joining HJP&A,
he served as MIS Director at Drexel Oilfield
Services (now National Oilwell Varco) where he was responsible for upgrading the company from Symix
version 2.6 to version 3.5. This
included personally converting over 150 custom programs and reports over a
three month period. He was also
responsible for supporting 200 Symix users in Houston, Louisiana and Ft.
Worth. During his tenure the company
acquired six different companies in the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Johnson was responsible for
transitioning each company to the Symix system from their existing systems. Mr. Johnson began working
with the Symix product when he was hired at BJ
Services as a Manufacturing Project Manager. As part of an implementation team that included Symix
personnel, Department Managers and MIS Staff, he converted the company’s data
and reports from a legacy materials system written in COBOL and installed a
customized version of Symix 2.5 in six months.
While at BJ Veal worked with the Quality Assurance Department to design
an ISO non-compliance reporting system which was integrated with Symix. Prior to 1990, Mr. Johnson
spent over 15 years in the materials management field. He has held the positions of Materials
Director, Production Control Manager, Assistant Sales Branch Manager,
Production Planner, Inventory Control Analyst, Client Service Representative,
Scheduler, Expeditor, Auditor and Accounts Payable Clerk. Veal is also a Certified Practitioner of
Inventory Management through the American Production and Inventory Control
Society. Software and operating
systems he has worked with: Windows NT, Windows 9x, Windows XPâ, Unix (HP, Dynix, SCO, AIX,
Data General),
Novell, Ms-DOS, Microsoft Office 97â, Microsoft Office 2000â, Microsoft Office XPâ Progress (v6.3 thru v.9x), Visual Basic, Paradoxâ, Microfocus COBOL,
